For each spatial cell, data displays distances traveled by customers from their origin to each cell. City is splitted into spatial cells (450x550m) and customers are divided into 3 categories, according to their origin: citizens of the city, people living outside the city but in the province of Madrid and people living outside the province.


This data visualization has been built as part of the Innova Big Data Challenge contest.

Data is provided by BBVA's Developer platform and its API. The data contains transactions made in Madrid by BBVA credit and debit cards between November 2012 and April 2013, as well as demographic origin of customers and estimations about the distance they cover from their origin to the point of the purchase.
